This state-of-the-art community centre provides a new hub for Kitchener’s fast-growing Williamsburg community and hosts 150 recreational and fitness programs a week, with 2 gyms and 4 multi-purpose rooms. “This new community centre is a reflection of our commitment to building inclusive, accessible spaces where residents of all ages can come together and know they belong,” said a city spokesperson.
In recent decades, the hamlet of Williamsburg – established in the 1840s – has been absorbed by the surrounding city. Careful attention to the community’s roots is shown with red brick use on new retail buildings.
This new community centre is a thoughtful and welcoming design by Svedas Architecture Inc., featuring a classic red brick paired with charming stone, plus deep gray accents.
